Chávez underwent surgery and is in good conditions
Cuba, February 28, 2012
Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, was operated in Havana of an injury in the same area where he had a cancerous tumor removed in 2011.”He’s in good physical conditions” said the Vice President Elias Jaua.
“The operation was carried out as planned, obtaining a satisfactory result, after which was scheduled a recovery plan to meet in the coming days” said Jaua.
He added, “he suffered the extraction of the total pelvic injury diagnosed”.
The medical report states that “the immediate postoperative period has been stable without systemic complications. He recovers properly working with the rehabilitation”.
When reading the statement, Jaua also expressed his “gratitude” to Fidel and Raul Castro, the Cuban people and “the team of health specialists who have conducted this operation”.
Chavez, said a few days ago that he was not suffering from metastasis (cancer in other organs of the body) and continues to lead the government as he did not delegate his responsibilities to the Vice President Jaua, as was demanded by the opposition.
