February 14, 2012
Security Minister Nilda Garre discussed the repression of the former soldiers mobilized on the continent during the Falklands War. He said no soldiers were among the theater of conflict.
“These former conscripts demand special treatment by virtue of having been deployed to the South with arguments that fit the entire population in Patagonia. They resort to extortion to try to achieve the same benefits as the nation recognizes those who fought in the theater of operations, “said a statement of the portfolio.
“The group (…) claims to be made up of former conscripts deployed to the South during the Falklands War, but would not have been in the theater of operations and are included in the official lists of war veterans”.
“Given the negative closed to traffic leaving no alternative but to let the police action to ensure the right to freedom of movement for all citizens,” concludes.
24 former soldiers were arrested for “assault and resisting arrest”, as requested by a Federal judge. 22 and are free.
