University students will protests against mega mining projects in Argentina

Argentina, February 1, 2012

Tomorrow at 6:30 pm, students of the University Federation of Buenos Aires will march from Callao and Corrientes to the house of La Rioja and Catamarca to repudiate the statements of the governor of San Juan José Luis Gioja and the repressive actions against the protesters, denouncing also the harm done by mega mining projects in the country. 

Thus, the statement released by the FUBA noted that “one month after the start of the protests in Famatina, we mobilized to support the struggle of all democratic populations that are expressed by the development model they want for the place where they live. We add to the protests on behalf of those residents and activists who courageously face the lies of the provincial governments and the police repression in the prosecution of their claim”.

“We reject the comparison done with the Nazis done recently by the governor of San Juan, José Luis Gioja, and repudiate also the inauguration of the newly adopted anti-terrorism law” concluded the same.
