Boudou assumes the Executive with the task of monitoring the speculation
Argentina, January 4, 2012
Vicepresident Amado Boudou assumed yesterday the interim presidency for 20 days with the main objective of protecting the country against speculative runs in the markets. He settled in the Banco Nacion because the office in the Casa Rosada (House of Government of Argentina) was in bad conditions.
The former minister of Economy began his brief period during the medical licence of Cristina Kirchner with a transfer. Due to the bad conditions of the Vicepresident’s office in the Casa Rosada (where he should stay during his presidency), he decided to move to the Banco Nacion.
Boudou will have to monitor the markets so that no financial runs will occur to affect the value of the peso or to imply economic interventions from the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA).
Furthermore, he will have to face the report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about the Argentina, which promises to be harsh.
About that, sources in the Casa Rosada told M24Digital that, even though they seek to avoid sanctions, “there will be no submissions”, for which a hard reaction is expected, since the IMF will surely criticize the heterodox (keynisians) measures in economy.
