Australian tourist case: the lineup failed

Argentina, January 1, 2012

The young Australian backpacker Kevky Emma, who was lost for four days in the area of ‘El Cajon del Azul’ in El Bolson, did not recognize the prisoner, alleged perpetrator of the brutal attack.

She had told “when she began his walk, a man began to follow her. She tried to keep him in sight but a few miles he reached out her and hit her head making her faint. After a while, she recovered and tried to return to the village. That’s when a hiker found her and took her to the village”.

The man captured in a raid yesterday in Barrio San Jose, on the outskirts of El Bolson, remains in detention, and his identity was not revealed, although it was known that he is from Bariloche and worked in the area of Choking Mallin.

Sources close to the case said that “in the place where she stopped the suspect would have found the shoes of the tourist. Besides, the mystery continues over whether Emma was raped. Although some experts claim that she was, just remember that the girl was assaulted but does not refer to another type of situation”.
