The world’s largest “alfajor” is from Mar del Plata

The world’s largest alfajor (*) weighing 556.100 kilos was developed in Mar del Plata City and now are waiting to enter the Guinness Book.
Ariel Seggeser was the baker using, 100 kilos of flour, 40 kilos of corn starch, 5.60 kilos of bitter cocoa, 60 kilos of margarine oil, 60 kilos of sugar, 4 kilos of honey, 560 eggs; essences of vanilla, lemon and almond, baking powder, ammonium bicarbonate, 250 kilos of fresh milk and 20 kilos of pastry bath.
The Super Alfajor was shared last night between the present and the other half is donated to: The Children’s Homes Grillito, Paula Albarracin, Ricardo Gutierrez, El Centenario, Bichito de Luz y La Ardillita.
The Great Alfajor was presented as part of the 7th Gastronomic Festival of Mar del Plata, and was certified in a report by the Clerk Ana Maria Lopez and will be submitted to Guinness record to overcome the previous record of 464 kilos.

(*) Alfajor, is a traditional cookie in some countries of the Americas, most notably in Argentina. Its most basic form consists of two round sweet biscuits generally joined together with caramel and/or jam and covered with powder sugar. In most alfajores there are layers like cake, and the “dulce de leche” fills in between.
