Ukraine: Women got naked to protest against illegal prostitution

In front of the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, a group of women got naked from the waist up to protest against prostitution and the women’s market in Ukraine.

The women are activists of the Femen group and taking advantage of the presence of the media, they decided to call attention to their demands before the draw for the European Football Championship 2012, which took place in the capital of their country.

“We draw attention to the situation of women in Ukraine,” said Inna Shevchenko, spokesman for the group, as she ensured that local government wants to legalize prostitution before the tournament starts.

“There are politicians who are already talking about that legalization would be good for women. We are confident that it will lead to the legal approval of prostitution” said the activist.

For years, the non-governmental organization created in 2007 by Anna naked Hutsol, organized protests to draw attention to the situation of women worldwide.

The drawing of lots was held at the Palais des Arts in Kiev.
