Hugo Chavez, Venezuela’s president, said “I’m sure that the current Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, will be president again”. The comments came after he has been chosen as the official candidate to continue the current project. In addition he supported Russia’s position against the U.S. missile shield.

“We know that our friend Vladimir Putin is the candidate to the elections for the United Russia party. Vladimir was launched and we are sure he will be Russia’s president again” said Chávez at a cabinet meeting broadcasted on state television.

On the other hand, he said “Medvedev will be prime minister with him” and stressed “cooperation between the positions of both firm against pressure from the Yankees”.

About the missiles, he added “we have heard and seen that Putin and Medvedev will have tore-aim Russian missiles at Yankee military bases in Europe”. On 23 November, Medvedev demanded the Ministry of Defense to “deploy missile-warning radar in the Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, against the U.S. decision to do the same in Europe.

Chavez stressed that it is “very good for the world to fight against the empire” and called the U.S. government to think on their position with the missiles.
