The UN ordered the cessation of NATO operations in Libya
October 27, 2011
NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) must be out from Libya at the end of the month. This was voted unanimously by the Security Council of the UN who decided that from next Monday midnight the mandate that allowed NATO planes bomb the North African country in collaboration with the rebels ends.
On the other hand the UN agency amended the provisions on the arms embargo so that the CNT (National Transition Council) has suspended access to them and freezing the assets of the Libyan oil companies.
This measure will allow the free movement of funds from Libya National Oil Corporation and Oil Company Zueitina and also raises the barriers imposed onassets that affected the country’s Central Bank and the Libyan Arab Foreign Bank, as well as the General Investment and the Libyan Africa Investment Portfolio
