U.S.: Republicans hold back employment law

October 12, 2011

In a blow to Barack Obama, Republicans stopped the initiative to create jobs and boost the economy with countercyclical measures.

The President of the United States was betting to the approval of a bill providing for an expenditure of 447,000 million dollars destined to reviving the economy.

With the defection of two senators, Republicans managed to stop what was one of the main policies that Obama needs for his reelection campaign in 2012.

However, the president said that ”this does not mean the end of this fight,” adding that ”the American people will not take ‘no’ for an answer.”

“In the coming days, Congress will have to choose if they believe that teachers, construction workers, police officers and firefighters must return to the labor market,” he concluded.
