Barack Obama to meet Palestinian leader

U.S. President Barack Obama has scheduled for Wednesday a meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to persuade him of abandon his plan of ask to the UN Security Council recognition of Palestinian state.
“President Obama will talk with Abbas at 18:00 ET (22:00 GMT) in the framework of the General Assembly session of the UN this week in New York. Also he has scheduled for Wednesday, a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” US government spokesman said.
UN Security deputy counselor Ben Rhodes said, “President Obama will say both the Israelis and the Palestinians very directly why we believe that the United Nations action is not the way (…) to achieve a state (Palestinian).”
The Palestinian leader stated that this Friday he will present the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, an application for full membership of a Palestinian state.
