Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri spoke about the work of the Sarmiento railroad grade crossing, one day after the tragedy in Flores, where eleven people were killed and 200 wounded.

“The level crossing is a source of conflict and danger for many years,” Macri said to different media including M24Digital.

“Yesterday we heard the sad records with those who run the trains, how many deaths accumulate before finishing their careers as engineers,” the official said.

He added: “This marks we have to solve it and it can be solved, it means works, it means having the proper administration of public resources.”

“The works solve problems, save lives and also generate jobs for people,” Macri said.

PRO leader said that the difficult relationship between his government and national, in this case has nothing to do with the stoppage of the works.

“Sarmiento’s works was launched by the national government many years ago, they have to do it, it has nothing to do with us,” he explained.

“The works in Buenos Aires City we are doing, which are many, have had conflict with a judge who is Judge Cataldo, who mistakenly stopped the works,” he complained.

“Now the City Appeal Court is trying to review what the judge’s mistakes” he added.
