Another oil discovery occurred in an appraisal well of a hydrocarbon reservoir in the basin north of Falkland Islands / Islas Malvinas, British oil company Rockhopper said.
In this well of 2,696 meters depth an oil deposit of ‘good quality’ was found with high expectations.
Rockhopper managing director Sam Moody said that “This is the fifth consecutive positive test by the company in the block known as the Sea Lion. It is again an excellent result.
The exploration campaign will continue in the same sector to more accurately assess on the potential of Sea Lion before a possible exploitation of the deposit, which seems increasingly likely.
