Stolbizer: “We have expressed our position against” Schoklender going to the Congress

City of Buenos Aires, September 12, 2011

Margarita Stolbizer, Member of the Broad Progressive Front (FAP), said she does not believe that “the Congress of the Nation must validate a summon to a person like Schoklender.” She said she will adress the discuss whether to go to the camera or not with Hermes Binner.

The gubernatorial candidate said that if Sergio Schoklender, former agent of the Foundation Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, ”has something to say, he must do so in the context of Justice.”

“I do not think the Congress of the Nation must validate a summon to a person like Schoklender. If he has something to say, he must do so in the context of Justice,” the lawmaker told a local radio.

Stolbizer indicated that, however, she still does not know “whether I will or not, I’ll talk to [Hermes] Binner, but we have expressed our opposition to what is intended to do.”

She declared that “if Congress acts in the place of Justice, it is as bad as when we denounce the Executive invading our legislative powers. The institutional system works best if everyone does the right thing to do.”
