UCR presidential candidate, Ricardo Alfonsin, with his party proposed creating a commission of inquiry to clarify the facts surrounding the scandal of former Mothers of Plaza de Mayo representative Sergio Schoklender.
“We have proposed the creation of a commission of inquiry in order to determine possible political responsibilities. We asked the Government to accept the proposal,” said Alfonsin as M24Digital reported from the press conference held for this announcement.
“No matter what we think, but we need to know from the course of justice what has happened with this case and others as well,” he assured.
“We can not stay off the news appearing in silence. Our political responsibility, our responsibility as citizens, our responsibility as candidates also compels us to express our concern and to promote an initiative to solve these problems,” he said referring to Schoklender’s statements in the journal Noticias.
Alfonsin added that the ruling denied the facts of corruption when the news was know it but when it couldn’t be denied, they do no have an active attitude oriented to clarify the facts.
This may have occurred for two reasons, in his view, or because there was complicity or negligence. “We need to know if there was complicity or negligence by the government either is extremely grave.”
