Hurricane Katia was strengthened in the last hours and is almost Category 3, as it was reported by meteorologists from the National Hurricane Center, based in Miami.

Hurricane has winds of 110 kilometers per hour and was located 540 miles south of Bermuda in the northwest. Experts predict that today its strength could be major.

In the Atlantic Ocean, there were huge waves that will hit the east coast of the United States, Greater Antilles, Bermuda and some beaches of the Bahamas.

Katia has developed a huge eye in the last hours, as can be observed through satellite imagery. Meteorologists announced that his movement is slow and its displacement is to the west, so they do not believe it could reach U.S. shores.
