Argentina, September 3, 2011

Today, the presidential candidate of the Union for Social Development(UDESO, for its acronym in Spanish), Ricardo Alfonsin, called to the National Government and the Government of the province of Buenos Aires to make changes in the “Police, Justice and the prison system”. The candidate said that those institutions are part of the problem of insecurity in the country.

The national deputy for the Radical Civic Union, said that “that institutions allow us to say that they are part of the problem”.

He added “the problem of security must be solved by the National Government and the provincial Government, therefore they must work together, but they had not done it yet”.

“The responsibility must be in the hands of the National Government because they never assumed the problem of security as a problem, because they denied it, as well as they deny inflation and the energy problem, because they believe that this can have a political cost” he said.

“We must make a serious reflection on the need to produce major changes in institutions that we have to handle in the fight against crime, such as the police, justice and the prison system” he concluded.
