Martin Palermo has his statue along with Riquelme and Maradona
Argentina, August 20, 2011
Today was presented the statue of Martin Palermo, at the Museum of the Passion for Boca Juniors. It measures 306 inches, in honor of the goals reached during the professionalism, one centimeter per goal. The striker thanked the club and the fans for the love.
The sculptor was the same who did those of Diego Maradona and Juan Roman Riquelme, Elizabeth Eichhorn. The ideologue of the statue was Biagetti, a fan of Mar del Plata, who received support from the fans to carry on the statue.
In the sculpture, Palermo appears celebrating a goal with his arms raised, as was requested by the striker.
Palermo thanked the fans and said “I thank everyone who helped with this, the president and the leaders who work so much for this club. Boca gave me a lot of emotions throughout my life and the fans; I’ll remind them every day”.
By the end of the year, “El Loco” will have another tribute with a match played at La Bombonera.
