Protests in Buenos Aires for San Juan glaciers

Due to the Glacier National Law is not fulfilled by some companies the province of San Juan is seriously affected, the NGO Solidarity Consciousness claimed.

So its members, with the participation of many people called through social networks, held this afternoon a demonstration in front of the Casa de San Juan in Buenos Aires City.

The NGO made responsible to Governor Gioja and Barrick Gold, due to the non-implementation of the Law Glacier (National – 26 639) enacted 10 months ago.

Solidarity Consciousness invited to join this complaint with water bottle in hand. “The packages will be sent to San Juan, you have to collect water from the glaciers that melted Barrick Gold”.

Meanwhile, water shortage concerns to San Juan people and local producers insist with the need for the declaration of water emergency, given the low levels of rivers and productivity, Governor Gioja, however, guarantees drinking water for companies such as Barrick Gold and claims that the Glacier law is unconstitutional, the NGO said.
