City of Buenos Aires, July 30, 2011

Today, Mauricio Macri was re-elected as head of Government, defeating Daniel Filmus, who was also his rival in 2007.

The candidate of the Front for the Victory, which proposed to combine the objectives of the City of Buenos Aires to the nation, was the first to speak. In his speech he said “I congratulate Mauricio Macri for his performance and for having achieved the re-election in the City” and said “that’s what democracy is about, respect and plurality of voices”.

He also said that President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner phoned the head of Government to welcome him for the results and the victory.

Mauricio Macri was the second to speak and called to continue “the process of transformation started in 2007 and we have now the opportunity to follow it” and added “I am proud to be an Argentinean and we are happy to belong to a plural and free country”.

Most significantly, Macri thanked the President Cristina Kirchner’s calling and promised to provide more transparent institutions.
