Closs achieved the reelection in Misiones and there will be a second round in Tierra del Fuego
Argentina, June 27, 2011
Maurice Fabián Closs, governor of Misiones, was elected to a new term with more than 70% of the vote. In Tierra del Fuego, Fabiana Rios and Rosana Bertone go to a runoff. In both provinces, the results predict more than 70% of the votes for Cristina Kirchner.
Almost without opposition, Closs succeded with 72.56% of the polls. Far bellow was Claudio Wipplinger of the Trabajo y Progreso Social pary, with 6.96% of the votes.
Meanwhile, in Tierra del Fuego, the current governor Rios (of the PSP) came beneath Bertone (of the FPV) with 30.05% of the polls against 44.84%. They are both allies of the national government.
Should the vote remain consistent, this would mean that Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner would obtain the 70% of the polls in October, which may not seem relevant because of the small population in these districts, but is really important when choosing MPs.
