Argentina, June 26, 2011
The province of Tierra del Fuego today define the rule of the next 4 years. In the southern district, the current mandatory Rios and Kirchnerist Bertone go to second round.
Meanwhile, in Tierra del Fuego, the president Fabiana Ríos (PSP, former ARI and Civic Coalition) may not be re-elected. The candidate of the Frente para la Victoria, Rosana Bertone, would emerge as the winner, but there would be a second round.
In both territories, the dichotomy is only apparent, because provincial officials are linked to the national government, despite facing the FPV.
At 6 pm today, schools that were empowered to vote in Tierra del Fuego for governor, vice, and legislators were closed, although many voters were still inside them.
The election took place without incidents, although the vote was slow due to the system implemented for the legislators category, called ”system of strikeouts”.
“Depending on the complexity of the election and the flow of voters, it is estimated that the voting period within schools may eventually continue until 8 pm with voters who are within the establishment” assured some authorities.
Governor of Tierra del Fuego, Fabiana Rios, said she was “relaxed” despite seeking the re-election.
Meanwhile, the candidate for governor of Tierra del Fuego by the Front for Victory (FPV), Rosana Bertone said ”the early participation shows us the commitment of the people of Tierra del Fuego, allowing us have many expectations for this election day”.
