Palestinian citizens try to cross the border of Syria with Israel
Israel, June 5, 2011
Israel’s border with Syria lives again with violence. Today, the border with Syria has been a hot spot again with Israel and apparently the peace is very far from being achieved because more than 1000 Palestinians are still present on the Hill of Screams.
The scene was repeated throughout the day, hundreds of refugees trying to enter Israel and the soldiers answered with fire and gasses, under the order of avoiding the entrance of Palestinian citizens.
The Syrian state television reported that there were at least 22 deaths, among which is a child, and over 300 wounded. Some Israeli military officials questioned the amount quoted by Syrian state television.
Israel’s army is using megaphones to warn the protesters who try to cross the international border and say “we’ll shoot those who attempt to cross the border”. The number of deaths and injuries is also understood by the explosion of four mines in the area of Kunetra, where attempts are constant.
The Israel Defense Minister Ehud Barak said “the responsibility for what happens on the border lies in those who have encouraged them to act against the sovereignty of our country”.
