British Petroleum extends research in the Falklands Islands

England, May 22, 2011

The oil company Borders & Southern Petroleum extended his contract to drill in territorial waters bordering Argentina to the Falkland Islands for 90 days.

“Under the terms of the agreement (between them and Falkland Oil & Gas) we will share the costs of mobilization and demobilization of the platform together with ancillary equipment and services” the company said through a statement.

This initiative has already generated controversy in the UN and has urged to the countries in conflict not to change the situation of the islands.
