War between Passarella and Grondona

BUENOS AIRES, May 18, 2011.- River President Daniel Passarella asked AFA President Julio Grondona to resign after the game between Boca and River.

“You have to take a step back, Julio. Your time has passed. The Sunday was embarrassing. The referees are no longer acceptable to anymore,” Passarella said to Grondona during the regular meeting of the Executive Committee.

Passarella after the River defeat last Sunday against Boca, the ‘Kaiser’ wanted to personally go to demand the resignation of Grondona for the “bad party arbitration,” according to his perspective.

“I have to defend River fans, who felt stolen on Sunday, as I felt,” Passarella said.

Grondona response

“River had leaders of great value as (Antonio) Liberti, (Alfredo) Dávicce or (Julian) Kent … But now there are young boys who come from other sectors and not realize that is not the same to play or direct a team than manage an institution,” Grondona said.

He added: “This guy (by Passarella) is new as a leader and he will have to take his time. He always had a strong character and suffered some small problems, but it will be cured. Surely tomorrow he will be a great leader, but first needs time to calm down and put on a ring like mine that says ‘all pass’.”
