Kate and William’s wedding cake
LONDON, April 29, 2011.- The royal wedding cake covered with cream and white icing, decorated with delicate 900 flowers was center stage at the reception at Buckingham Palace.
It was made by Fiona Cairns, who was exhausted but elated after working for five weeks in this beautiful cake, which has tested her skills.
“Catherine did not want it to be seven feet tall, she didn’t want it to be towering and thin, and I think we succeeded.”
The bride wanted the technical elements of Joseph Lambeth cake decoration, where intricate tubing is used to scroll in three dimensions in a work of leaves, flowers and other decorations.
The cake was served at a reception lunch at Buckingham Palace for 650 relatives and close friends.
