Spain, April 24, 2011
Rafael Nadal, World number one tennis player, consolidated his big moment and confirmed his supremacy on clay. In the Conde de Godo tournament in Barcelona, he won the final against his compatriot David Ferrer 6-2, 6-4.
Nadal won his match No. 501 and is his sixth title in Barcelona, winning for the seventh time in Monte Carlo last week.
Thus, the Spanish won his title number 45 in an area where only lost two finals in Hamburg 2007 and Madrid 2009, both against Roger Federer.
“It’s incredible to win again here in Barcelona” he said Nadal, just after the end of the game. He added: “It was a difficult decision for me to play in Barcelona and I’m very happy with the victory. I feel sorry for David, who is doing a fantastic season”.
