Palm Sunday

April 17, 2011:

Today the Catholic Christian community, celebrated around the world ‘Palm Sunday’, the first day of the Holy Week, which recalls the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel of Matthew 21, 1-11

“When they were approaching to Jerusalem, near Bethpage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, and told to them, come into the village and then enter it, ye shall find a tied colt, on which no one has sat: loose and bring it. And if anyone says to you: Why are you doing this? say that the Lord needs it and that he’ll will send it back. They came and found the colt tied up outside the door in the corner of way, and they untied it. And some of those who were there said to them: What are you doing untying the colt? “they said to them that Jesus had commanded: and they let them go. They brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and sat on it. And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And those who went before and those behind cried, saying: Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord Blessed be the kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest And Jesus went into Jerusalem and the temple: and he looked around at all, as it was evening, went out to Bethany with the twelve “.

At masses it takes place the blessing of the palms and olive branches and laurel recalling the passage of the Gospel, the faithful take these classes in their hands, to be raised when the priest began to bless.
