Garre met with commissioners of the Federal: “We will be uncompromising honesty”
City of Buenos Aires, April 15, 2011
Security minister, Nilda Garre, met with the 53 commissioners of the Federal Police Argentina to discuss the measures taken recently. He acknowledged his “honesty”, but warned that “we will be inflexible on that point.”
“The paradigm shift is necessary and must be achieve it in a short time because when the changes which are not made on time become worse problems and the solutions become more difficult. Changes must be addressed with determination, bravery, courage and enthusiasm,” Garre said, speaking of changes in the leadership of the force.
In that sense, she said that what happened “was not a ‘purge’, as some tried to put it, but a modification of profiles, a rise of younger people who are more able to lead a team.”
In conclusion, the official said: “I know of your honesty and you know that we will be inflexible on that point. Finally, I hope you will ‘pick up the gauntlet’ so that, together, we can get back to the Federal Police which had all the legitimacy and prestige it once had in society and can also offer the professionalism and the procedures required by the new times and new needs. “
