The history of the dog that suffers from overweight

England, April 10, 2011

It walks one step and gets tired. Cassie, a seven-year Border Collie weighs three times more than normal for its race. It never ate balanced meals and do not knows what healthy food is.

A haven of Warwickshire, central England, adopted it and now its life is changing. Veterinarians force it to follow a strict diet.

The animal weighs 58 kilos and suffers the same problems as an overweight man such as heart diseases, arthritis and diabetes.

Its former owner, an old man, used to give him as a main dish like fried fish on Saturday and a full barbecue on Sundays.

“Unfortunately, when the owners treat their pets as human beings and give them to eat the wrong foods, are killing them with kindness” said to the Daily Mail a veterinarian in the animal center.

Veterinarians are looking to help it lose weight and to look for a family that would take care of it as it should.
