Julio Cobos: “I will not be a candidate”
BUENOS AIRES, April 7, 2011.- Vice-President Julio Cobos said he will not stand as a presidential candidate in August elections.
“Under the conditions proclaimed today by the UCR, I leave aside the possibility of my presidential candidate on Aug. 14,” he said via Twitter.
“However, as I promised to Raul Alfonsin will continue to do all the necessary inputs to achieve the unity of the Radical party,” he added.
The vice president also referred to his resignation in a press conference where he said: “I truly feel that I have no chance.”
“In these circumstances I will desist. I will not be a candidate,” he said.
“We have not an electoral platform, there is not a framework of alliances and there is an official proclamation. So I feel I cannot participate,” he added.
With regard to his future, he rules out a candidacy for governor of Mendoza.
