The presidential divorce in Guatemala was cancelled

April 2, 2011

This Saturday, according to the reporter of M24 Digital, “Guatemala’s Supreme Court issued the order to ‘stop the divorce’ between the president and the first lady which was criticized as “a legal fraud” because the wife of the president is standing for future presidential elections.

A court spokesman told the media that “The Court accepted one of the resources against the divorce, filed by a group of students”.

The Guatemalan constitution prohibits running for election as president of the country ‘to close relatives of the Head of State”.

The judge’s family told to the press that she has “received death threats”.
