Obama praised Brazil’s economic growth in a meeting with Dilma Rousseff

Brazil, March 19, 2011

Today, the president of the United States Barack Obama and the president of Brazil Dilma Rousseff gave a press conference after signing trade agreements. They also agreed to establish a Commission for Economic Affairs.

The U.S. president is touring in Latin America, where he will also visit Chile and El Salvador.

Obama says he supports Brazil’s economic growth and expressed the desire to become a “big customer” of its energy sources.

Obama on Saturday hailed the “extraordinary rise of Brazil that has attracted the attention of the world” during statements to the press.

Obama held a meeting with the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff at the Planalto Palace.
