The CGT left “on hold” the strike and march of Monday
City of Buenos Aires, March 18, 2011
The little desk of the General Confederation of Labor met today and decided to suspend the decision of the general strike and march of Trucker’s and other unions on Monday.
After the Swiss request for information on the causes of Moyano and called the general strike of Truckers, the leadership of the CGT met to discuss whether to ratify the measures announced in support of the secretary general.
The meeting was not attended by the head of the organization, but which was chaired by Antonio Caló, of the Metal Workers Union (UOM). Anyway, Moyano appeared to speak at the press conference.
Thus, Cristina Kirchner faced its first possible general strike in her mandate by the CGT. Something unheard of, because of the alliances she had with the workers of the plant.
“The warrant was based on newspaper articles which were not even attached,” said Héctor Recalde, Moyano’s lawyer and national MP, adding that “they talk of the Tucker’s Union APE, when this society does not exist.”
Moya took the floor and said “I don’t have a fuck to do with this. That’s why sometimes the press or certain parts of the press, act with a perversity that is unlimited. And it seems, as in other cases, men who have the responsibility to preside over a social work we have become serial murderers.”
“We are all available to the Justice,” the secretary general of the CGT said. “The only people who denounce the 200 layoffs of Clarín were us, so I get attacked by the press,” he added.
“We demand the right things with dignity, and then they attack with ethics: ‘They have no ethics, the don’t speak properly’. But we do not have to be afraid, they have to be afraid of us. So we will suspend the strike, but we will not allow them to lie no more.”
“The struggle of the workers is a constant, let us continue it,” he finished.
