Pink House sources confirmed to M24Digital that president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner would officially submit her candidacy for re-election on 25 May. The doubts lay in the candidate a to vice.

Always looking for scoops, M24Digital’s staff had the chance to speak a source at Government House who confirmed that Cristina Kirchner will announce that she will run for reelection on May 25, at a ceremony in the province of Chaco.

The date chosen will have a particular feeling for the president, as it will be 1 year from the celebrations for the Bicentennial, and 8 since the day that the late Néstor Kirchner took office.

The real question lies in the vice president. At this point, the internal forces can not reach an agreement on who will accompany the President in the formula.

One of the names ringing in the House is that of Jorge Capitanich, current governor of Chaco and former chief of staff under President Eduardo Duhalde. However, several rule it disprove due to the way he handled the crisis of indigenous land claims.

Another possible candidate would be José Luis Gioja, who governs the province of San Juan since 2003, although his mining policy has generated much rejection within the left winged sectors of the Kirchnerism.

The third name mentioned by sources to M24Digital is that of Amado Boudou. Despite his readiness to compete for governor of Buenos Aires City, the Finance Minister would give anything to accompany Cristina Kirchner in an electoral formula.

On this day, Anibal Fernandez, national chief of staff opened the door for the vice presidential candidate who is a non-party member.

“One possibility is to call a non-party, why not? Because Cobos is a traitor, I have to look to the side? This is an exceptional case. There are people serious, responsible, who are accompanying us,” Fernandez said.

This is the least likely alternative, and several internal groups of the Kirchnerism say that the statements by the head of the Cabinet as a tactic to move to Martin Sabbatella (from EDE) out of the competition for the governorship of Buenos Aires Province, in which is Daniel Scioli.
