Davis Cup: Nalbandian wins the starting point of the series against Romania

BUENOS AIRES, March 4, 2011.- David Nalbandian beat Adrian Ungur 6-3, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 and thus managed to get the first point of the Cup Davis series against Romania.

The player was very moved after the game because his body is not good and although he was about to leave at first, he resisted because “is representing his country,” Nalbandain said.

“I’m not well, I tried to do everything I could, but I felt pretty bad. Every time I could move less, but this was a Davis Cup match and it was Argentina, I had to draw strength from which there was not,” the player added through tears.

“We thought it would hold better, but did not work. I can not take a step, I made a great effort. Playing well is a lack of respect for my teammates. We’ll see what happens,” he said afterward in reference to his continuity in the series.
