“Crime rates have fallen,” Security Minister says

BUENOS AIRES, February 16, 2011.- National Security Minister Nilda Garre said in the context of a police operation carried out in Moron, that crime rates have declined.

The minister also praised the security forces along with her pair of Buenos Aires, Ricardo Casal. Both were in the completion of an operation by the provincial police and National Gendarmerie to unlock a gang stealing expensive cars in the west of Buenos Aires province.

“The results we are seeing is because crime rates have reduced, we believe that the presence of more police officers has to do with it, as well as the cooperation with the Buenos Aires police and judicial authorities,” the minister said.

For his part, Casal said that “Gendarmerie is also helping after the agreements concluded with the national government and the provincial government in having more participation and be more active” in the fight against crime in the suburbs of Buenos Aires.

Security forces conducted several raids in Pineral and Carlos Gardel shantytowns, where seven men were arrested and 10 weapons were seized.
