Italian women protest against Berlusconi’s machism

Italy, February 13, 2011

The anti-Berlusconi movements are many, but this time women from all over the country arose with no political purpose but to protest against Il Cavaliere’s way of treating them.

The Italian ladies denounce “the indecent and repeated representation of women as a naked object of sexual commerce in newspaper, TV and publicity”.

Elisa Davoglio, leader of the movement, explained that this “is an spontaneous movement of very different women, of all ages, artists and regular people”.

Silvio Berlusconi never had much respect for anything really, but the scandal of his relationship with a minor, Ruby, took things out of line.

In Italy, the average of women with an university degree exceeds that of men, however only 1 of every 2 ladies in the country has a job.
