Picture shows Marilyn Monroe minutes after her death
February 7, 2010.- An unpublished photograph that forms part of the book Exquisite Corpse shows the body of Marilyn Monroe minutes after her death in August 1962.
In the photograph, which was given to Spanish newspaper El Pais for broadcast, you can see a person pointing out the pills that killed the actress. It is estimated that he is policeman Jack Clemmons, the inspector from Los Angeles that received the call about Monroe’s death.
In addition, the coroner Thomas T. Noguchi told in the book, how he dealt with one of the toughest challenges in his history as a doctor.
“The corpse was on the table covered with a white sheet. I uncovered it slowly and stopped. It took me a while to get used to the idea that I was contemplating the face of the real Marilyn Monroe. (…) I knew that the world demand to know what had happened to a beloved character. Already feeling the burden, I began the exam,” the specialist recalled.
Noguchi was coroner in the county of Los Angeles between 1961 and 1982, as he was in charge of the autopsies of celebrities such as Robert Kennedy, Sharon Tate, Natalie Wood, William Holden, John Belushi and Janis Joplin.
