Meeting between Chavez and Mujica in Caracas
Caracas, January 27, 2011.- Uruguay President José Mujica meets Thursday with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez to strengthen energy cooperation.
The meeting takes place at the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas.
The Uruguayan president wants revive an energy agreement with Venezuela, which allows the sending of 44,000 barrels of oil a day to Uruguay with preferential financing.
Moreover, “it is planned to discuss the exploitation of an oil well in the Orinoco Belt which would involve also the state oil company of Venezuela (PDVSA) and Enarsa of Argentina”, BBC said.
“Welcome Pepe Mujica, Venezuela luxury dresses to welcome you and the delegation accompanying you,” Chavez said upon receiving Mujica in the seat of government.
In his brief speech the Venezuelan president referred to his counterpart as “a true friend, an example of the perennial struggle for the great nation, for social justice, liberation of peoples and the construction of socialism.”
