Argentine president met with the Emir of Qatar

Qatar, January 18, 2011.- President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner held a meeting this morning with the Qatari emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, in the framework of her official visit to the Emirates.

The president was received with the honors for a head of state, which included military soldiers in dress uniform and the singing of both anthems.

Moreover, in her passage through Kuwait, Cristina said before a group of businessmen that “Argentina will be a good host of productive investments, but I will not take a step back in policy to control speculative capital that enabled the economic destruction the last three decades.”

She added: “The re-industrialization of the country, rather than a model, it must be a two-way towards the consolidation of the achievements in the last five years.”

She noted that there is “the need for a new array of food business, with emphasis on adding value to crops”.
