Dilma Rousseff declared a mourning of three days to pay tribute to the victims

Dilma Rousseff, president of Brazil, declared a three-day official mourning because of the dead from heavy rains that affected different regions of Brazil.Rio de Janeiro was the more affected, where the total number of deaths reached 564.

It is a tribute to the victims of the weather that devastated several towns in Brazil, especially the mountainous region of Rio.

The latest bulletin issued by the Civil Defense said “landslides in the state of Rio de Janeiro killed 264 in the city of New Fribourg, 238 in Teresópolis, 43 in Petrópolis and 16 in Sumidouro.

Sergio Cabral, governor of Rio, had previously announced that the official mourning will be of seven days and would begin next Monday with the publication of the document in the Official Journal.

On Thursday, President Rousseff flew over the most affected areas by the rains. She also chatted with some of the victims and announced the delivery of 100 million reais to help the them.
