Argentina-Portugal friendly match was canceled

January 5, 2011.- The friendly match between Argentina and Portugal, scheduled for Feb. 9 was canceled by the Arsenal Football Club of England, without giving specific explanations.

A brief statement from the club reported, “Due to circumstances beyond their control, Arsenal Football Club regrets the cancellation of the international friendly match between Argentina and Portugal to be held at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday February 9, 2011.”

Consequently the long awaited showdown between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will have to wait.

Meanwhile, the March 26 friendly match in Seattle against USA, and September 29 against Costa Rica in the opening of the country’s new National Stadium remain in agenda.
