Puricelli: “We’ll build Armed Forces with a great sense of respect for Human Rights”

Arturo Puricelli, new Defense Minister said today that he will place the Armed Forces “in a very prominent place, but with a great sense of respect for human rights”.

About the policies promoted in the area of National Defense of the governments of Nestor and Cristina Kirchner, he said that “we hope to work with the basis of what has been built so far”.

The Minister announced that during the first quarter of 2011 will present a plan about what Armed Forces we need and we want to have. There will be short-term projects, of three years, medium term ones, of twenty years, and long-term ones, of thirty years.

Puricelli said he hopes to “deepen the achievements and gain new important results from the reforms”.

“We have to have abilities to know that we are able to defend our natural resources, population and continent, but always before the political decision of our government that is to deepen the work of diplomacy” concluded the new minister.
