Argentina, December 8, 2010

Velez won 2-0 against Huracan. The author of the goals was Cristaldo. Gareca’s team still has a chance to win the title, but must win and hope that Estudiantes draw or lose.

The referee was Pitana, in the penultimate date of the Apertura Tournament, played in the Jose Amalfitani, Velez’s stadium.

Velez reached this match after beating Godoy Cruz 4-0, while Huracan, being the team with most goals against, 33 in total, remains in promotion zone.

In the first half, during the first fifteen minutes, Huracan dominated the game, but without much depth. Velez pushed and little by little found the gaps with Martinez and Silva.

In the second half, Cristaldo entered for Cubero, and so the team of the “tiger” Gareca had more depth and come through the front to score.

Just 7 minutes into the second half, Velez broke the tie. The goal came after a good play by Somoza, and then Cristaldo scored the 1-0.

At 38 minutes Velez settled the matter. A free kick from Zapata, led to Silva who hung it on the crossbar and the bounce was kicked by Cristaldo, scoring the 2-0 and the second in his personal account.

Estudiantes won 4-0 against River in the Monumental, and now Vélez should expect them to lose or tie and they have to win to go to a playoff game or become champions of the Tournament.
