The Buenos Aires government will increase the ABL by 30%
City of Buenos Aires, October 1, 2010
Nestor Grindetti, Minister of Finance of the City of Buenos Aires, announced today that the tax Sweeping, Cleaning and Lighting (ABL) will increase up to 30% in January 2011. According to him, it is due to an “inflation adjustment.”
Talking to radio La Red, the minister said that “inflation affects everything we see in the supermarket, in the taxes, unfortunately today we are at an increasing rate of inflation and this can not fail to affect government revenues.”
Grindetti held against criticism by declaring that the increases will use “a table that has different values” and that “it will be less disturbing than the increase in 2008.”
“It’s been years since we were not affected by such a high inflation and the issue of how to manage the public purse begins to raise” the minister said, adding that the rises will be “on average 22 percent, with a ceiling of 30″.
