Gloria Stuart , the old lady from “Titanic”, has died

Actress Gloria Stuart, famous for her role as “Old Rose” in “Titanic” (1997), died at the age of 100.

Stuart, who appeared on the screen shining in the 30′s, said goodbye in Los Angeles, after 5 years of fighting against cancer. Her daughter, Sylvia Thompson, gave the news.

Memorable for her role in Titanic, Stuart was nominated for Oscars that year, becoming the oldest person to be a candidate. Finally, the Academy Award went to Kim Basinger for her role in “LA Confidential”

The actor Leonardo Di Caprio was shocked by the news: “Gloria Stuart was incredibly sweet. Someone who always fought for what she believed. For me it was an honor to have worked with her.”

In addition to the James Cameron’s movie, Stuart starred another hits in cinema: The Invisible Man (1933), The Old Dark House (1932), Roman Scandals (1933) and Here Comes the Navy (1934).
