UN: Obama mentions the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo in his speech
New York, September 23, 2010.- US President Barack Obama, during his keynote speech at the UN General Assembly, mentions to Mothers of Plaza de Mayo as an example of “resistance” in a “military dictatorship”.
Chancellor Hector Timerman said to news agency DyN and he announced that probably President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner will appreciate Obama gesture during her speech, which will take place on Friday.
Meanwhile, the president wrote in his Twitter account: “Let me tell you that in his inaugural speech, Barack Obama mentioned the Madres de Plaza de Mayo as an example of fighting against the dirty war”.
