Recoleta: Homemade bomb explodes in American Airlines and Alitalia offices

Buenos Aires, September 16, 2010.- An attack against the offices of American Airlines and Alitalia had this morning in the neighborhood of Recoleta.

The Chilean anarchist group “Vandalicia Teodoro Suarez” was responsible for the attack, according to leaflets found at the scene of the explosion and where they ask “Freedom to political prisoners.”

At 3:55 this morning a hooded man left a homemade device on 800 Santa Fe Avenue, at the offices of the airline American Airlines and Alitalia where authorities found leaflets demanding the release of political prisoners. There were no casualties.

According to police sources, “the explosive was placed by strangers at the door of the facility, which exploded minutes before 4:00 without causing casualties. The explosion broke windows and only damages the local facilities.”

Staff of the bomb squad of the Federal Police and the Police Station 15 conducted the expertise to determine the characteristics of the device.
