British artists unite against Cameron’s proposed of budget cuts
Leading British artists are waging a campaign to claim against the 25% cut that the administration of David Cameron plans to apply to the financing of cultural activities.
The artists include painters David Hockney, Howard Hodgkin and Richard Hamilton, the sculptor Anthony Caro and Anish Kapoor, as well as others such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.
“The campaign will begin this Friday with the release of a cartoon from Artist David Shrigley that illustrates the impact of these cuts,” the news agency EFE published.
The idea of protest is to present a work each week. The next projects will be the Turner award, Jeremy Deller and Mark Wallinger.
The management of Cameron, Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition, encourages the cultural sector to seek private financing, as in EE. UU.
